Ambient Accountability partners with leaders who have stopped making excuses and started making marks. If you are ready, we are available.
Our Services Meet Nurple →Our Philosophy
Ambient Accountability was founded on a simple premise: organizations do not fail because they lack strategy. They fail because nobody is willing to say the thing that everyone in the room already knows.
We are that person. Or rather, Nurple Henderson is. He has been in rooms where the truth was available and nobody reached for it. He has seen what happens next. He does not enjoy seeing it again.
Our approach is not confrontational. It is what we call constructive pressure — the kind that produces results rather than resentment. The difference is knowing when to apply it. That takes experience. We have the experience.
Nurple Henderson on Results:
Results is not a destination. It is a disposition. You either have it or you are in the process of acquiring it. There is no third state. The mug reminds me. Every morning. Results.
What We Do
Four offerings. Each designed to produce a specific kind of result. The right one depends on where you are and where the problem lives.
Being in the room is not enough. Nurple works with senior leaders on how they occupy space, command attention, and ensure that their contributions land with the weight they deserve. This is not presentation coaching. This is something older and more useful.
Inquire →Most accountability systems fail because they were designed by people who have never been held accountable for anything. Nurple designs the kind that stick — the kind where people actually feel something when they do not do the thing. That feeling is the product.
Inquire →Rooms have physics. Nurple has studied them for longer than most consulting firms have existed. He can walk into a meeting in progress and tell you, within four minutes, exactly where the problem is and who is holding it. This has been tested. The results are documented internally.
Inquire →Available on a limited, retainer basis. Nurple does not take every engagement. He takes the ones where he believes something is possible that the client has not yet seen. If you are asking, he will consider it. If you are the right kind of asking, he will say yes.
Inquire →Selected Work
Results speak. We let them. Identifying details have been modified at client request. Some clients have requested complete omission. We respect that.
A leadership team of eleven people had been in agreement for six quarters about the direction of the organization. Nothing had moved. Not because of resources. Not because of timing. Because agreement, it turns out, is not the same as commitment. Nurple spent two days in their offices. On the third day, something was different.
What changed is difficult to articulate without the context of the room. That is the point. The results were measurable. The methodology was not transferable via document. We have written the case study. We are deciding whether to publish it.

Technology Sector. Nurple Henderson identified the issue on slide three. The remaining forty-seven slides were informative.
Professional Services. A restructuring engagement that concluded earlier than expected. Positively.

LinkedIn →Insights
Nurple writes when he has something to say. He does not have something to say every week. This keeps the quality high and the cadence irregular.
There is a version of leadership that looks like leadership from a distance and produces nothing at close range. I have watched it. I have watched it in boardrooms and in breakout sessions and in the kind of all-hands meeting where the slides are excellent and the room leaves unchanged. The problem is not effort. The problem is direction.
Read More →Sometimes the room knows before you do. The skill is learning to read it before it reads you.
Read More →The original phrase uses lemons. I have always found this underambitious. You cannot control when it rains. You can control what you do with the water.
Read More →Some things you write to understand them. Not to be understood. This is one of those things.
* Nurple maintains that five posts is an appropriate amount of thought leadership. He is considering whether to write a sixth.
